RE: Roo bunkend door seal kit

PU Newbie, i'm sure the kit will not have the cargo latches with it.
i got a new door, hinge and seal kit from FR. there were no latches of any kind with it.
you'll have to buy them. they are much better than the screw type.
Fastech seems to be the main company for them.

RE: Dissappointed in RV Wholesalers after sale service

i agree, your issue is with Gregg Rollins at FR.
we bought our Roo from a dealer in Chicago, not RVW.
i knew that i wasn't going to drive back 2000 miles to have warranty issues fixed, that was the trade-off of saving over $4000. and that they would only be a middleman between FR and me for warranty work.
i dealt directly with FR and Gregg Rollins in finding local dealers to do the work or for reimbursement for the couple of times i had to pay up front first. not the dealer in Chicago.

RE: Question re mattress toppers

the few times we've had hookups, we were able to feel the heated mattress even with the egg crate and 1" foam topper.
but we use sheets instead of a sleeping bag.
i'm thinking of putting a foam topper or egg crate under the mattress for the condensation issue.
has anyone tried that?

RE: Travler trailer, a self contained unit?

Awesome feedbacks. Thank you everyone.
We decided to go wiht TT. I will get a quiet generator in case we need it. We need one for our home as a backup anyway. Thanks.
what will you be towing with? and have you towed a TT before?
have you looked at how much a quiet generator costs? one that will be quiet and run the a/c will cost a minimum of $1000 average.

RE: folding mattress covers tears?

i, first, went against Chuck's suggestion and put the "hoop" inbetween the folded mattress.
we've found that the stitching has been loosened by the hoop.
so, were putting it on top of or under the mattress now.

RE: Finally took HTT in for service.

I read the warranty, and from what it reads, nothing is covered! I did talk to Gregg at FR a while ago and he said our HTT was part of the recall. My dealer said it was not, but I'm calling Gregg back on Monday, I want that fix.
the 2nd year warranty is just a piece of paper that states it extends the factory warranty an extra year.
it was a white/yellow document that you fill out and send to FR with the money and the yellow is sent back signed by a FR warrany rep.
sounds like you bought a aftermarket warranty.

RE: Travler trailer, a self contained unit?

Thanks for clearing that up. I am still not sure which one I want (motorhome or travler trailer). Thanks.
with a travel trailer, you'll need a tow vehicle with enough of tow capacity. you'll also need a weight distributing hitch and sway control unless you've got a 3/4 ton or bigger tow vehicle. and you'll need to practice backing up if you've never pulled one.
without a generator, not only will you not be able to use the a/c, but not the microwave or television unless you have a 12v TV or an inverter.
a MH would be my recommendation also.

RE: I need your help concerning RVWholesalers

i think that anyone who has bought from RVW either lives near them or was unable to get any local dealers to come close to RVW's prices.

RE: TOWING

Tacoma_WV, check on prices first. you can get an Equal-i-zer delivered from RVWholesalers for $459. they can be easily installed but you may need a long socket for installing the ball to the hitch head.
Equalizer has an installation video on their website.

RE: Travler trailer, a self contained unit?

travel trailers are considered self-contained units because it has it's own power supply(12v), FW tank and Bl/Gr holding tanks.
generators are not necessary to be called self-contained.
the only TT's i've seen with generators are toy haulers.

RE: Palomino's Unique Hybrid Floorplans

I don't know about the tent ends but they have some neat floorplans. The only thing I don't like is the interior decor', they appear to be stuck in the early 2000's light oak and tacky cloth inserts.
Other then that seems nice, maybe Forest River can lend a few interior designer's to Palomino.
i know! that's why we love our Roo that has a solid color for the large fabrics. only the accent areas have patterned fabrics. the time the DW saw that fabric, she said "that's the one!".
i don't know why these companies can't see that the gaudy patterns are just too much in a small trailer.
the DW believes that men are the ones doing the interiors because there is no kitchen counter space on most and the fabrics tend to be "busy".:W

RE: TOWING

Does this WDH stop the danger of a passing truck? Or high winds? Maybe I will get one and get a new steering wheel where I warped if from holding ti to thight last week during the East coast storm!!! 2005 Tacoma Toy Truck, Passport 19.5 Box, 4,500# !!!
I just don't want to get one I regret and wish I would have gotten the other hitch!! Decisions, decisions.
i don't know what dealer allowed you to drive off without a WDH with sway control, but they could've been sued if you'd had an accident.
doesn't mean you would've of won, though.
a WDH alone doesn't stop sway. unless they have it built-in, like the Equal-i-zer or the Reese Dual-Cam. that's why these two are the highest recommended and praised WDH systems on this forum.
Reese has a clone of the Equal-i-zer, but i forget what it's called.

RE: Stinger vs WDH

Was doing some surfing and discovered this Stinger Hitch that would replace a WDH. Has anyone seen one in use of know of anyone using one. The price for the 1000 lbs tongue weight one is pretty much in line with an Equalizer WDH. It wouldn't take any set up and hooking up would be faster. Although a perodic tire replacement would be necessary. Would like to hear some opinons.
http://www.stingerhitch.com
this is for tongue-heavy loads, which hybrids are not. unless you have a front toy hauler platform on your hybrid.

A bit further up the road from Lemon Cove is Sequoia RV Park in Three Rivers.
the OP is asking about Lemon Grove, near San Diego, not Lemon Cove.

RE: RV park (full hookup) recommendations - Santa Rosa CA

i think you would be happier staying in the Napa Valley. the bike lanes in the valley are pretty wide and drivers are used to bicycles here. you can get some elevation and can go thru Sonoma County also.
the Tour of California came from Santa Rosa thru here and to Sacramento.
lots of riders train here and you can be centrally located.
but Santa Rosa is central to Sonoma County and you can ride to the ocean or find some hills to climb.
i'm not familiar with how bike friendly the roads are there.
i do ride road in Napa Valley and feel safer here than anywhere else i've ridden.

RE: Palomino's Unique Hybrid Floorplans

another thing i noticed looking at a 2010 S-238. the canvas ends had a silver top.
is this a reflective material to do what we've been using PUGs or solar blankets for?
or is it just a coloring and has no reflective properties?

Palomino's Unique Hybrid Floorplans

just looked at Palomino's website. they have some unique floorplans.
they have V-nosed hybrid, a rear-garage hybrid and a bunkhouse with a sofa slideout.
Starcraft used to have a rear-garage model. and there are very few bunkhouse with slide models anymore. and there's only one other v-nosed hybrid that i've seen, a Dutchmen 29'.
we don't have any dealer in California that sells the Stampede. they seem to not be a common item out there. but they seem to be worth looking at if you can find them.

RE: Just a assurance question.......................

i will say that you'll have no problem with pulling the 23SS with your truck. we have a Avalanche with the 5.3 v-8 and it's fine.
but as to double towing, i can't help you there. i know that the 23SS is a lightweight TT/frame and putting a receiver on the back to pull a boat, may void the warranty if something happens.
some manufacturers say welding a receiver to the frame for a bike rack, will void the warranty, let alone tow a boat with it.

RE: Rookie Needs Help!!

We are going to buy our first camper. I like the HTT over a TT, but then I am at a loss. Forest River makes 4 different ones themselves, Roo, Shamrock, Surveyor and another that I can't remember right now. What is the difference? Is one the economy version and another the cadillac version? It looks like the Roos are popular by scanning the forum, but why over the others?
Must stop typing . . . head spinning.HELP
first, the Roo and Shamrock are twins, just different fabrics and decals. the Surveyor is made in a different factory. they claim to be superior to the Roo/Shamrock but i've been in all three and see very little difference in quality. the Cherokee is a new brand of expandable. it has the aluminum siding but that's all i know about them.
there is a 5th FR expandable. FR bought Palomino a few years ago and they have interesting floorplans. i hear good things about them but have never seen one.
the Roo sells the best because it has the most dealers and the two top internet dealers sell the Roo.
if there were as many Shamrock or Surveyor dealers as Roo, they would probably be even in numbers.
we had 3 Roo dealers in our area and only one Surveyor dealer. no Shamrock or Palomino dealers, locally.
Bottom line: you have to look at each brand yourself and see/feel which one you like. every brand has its loyal fans.
